A-10 Thunderbolt II Aircraft Art Gallery. The A-10 Thunderbolt II, Warthog collectable Aviation Art. The A10 Thunderbolt II is most commonly known as the Warthog. It is used for close ground support and anti tank missions. The A-10 carries a 30 mm Gatling cannon in its nose and can penetrate any kind of armor. The A-10 is also heavily covered with portions of Armor Plate to protect vital components of the aircraft and protect the pilot. During the Gulf War, when Iraqi tank commanders saw the A-10 in the area, the commanders gave the order to abandon the tank and not to try to out maneuver or fight against the Warthog. This is because these tanks knew that they didn't have single chance of getting away without being destroyed. One common story about the A-10's is that it is capable of jettisoning an engine so that heat seeking missiles would follow the engine and not the plane. This is totally wrong and I have absolutely no idea where this fictitious statement came from. The warthog uses flares to do this job. There are many ways to search the web for the A10 here are some search phrases that can help, model airplanes, a-10, A-10, warthog, thunderbolt II, thunderbolt, ground attack Aircraft. These Specs are only for one version of this A10 ground attack, close ground support aircraft, other versions have different specs. This aircraft art gallery page has lots of aviation art prints, posters, pictures and photos, so please give it time to load. |
